Effect of molasses and ammonium sulfate concentration on intracellular lipid accumulation by Trichosporon asahii Thai Agricultural
Anon Paserakung; Virote Pattarajinda; Kanit Vichitphan; Ratanaporn Leesing.
The objective of present study was to examine the effect of molasses and ammonium sulfate concentration on intracellular lipid accumulation by Trichosporon asahii. Nine culture media with different concentration of molasses (M,%) and ammonium sulfate (N,g/l) includings M8N0.5, M8N1.0, M8N1.5, M12N0.5, M12N1.0, M12N1.5, M16N0.5, M16N1.0 and M16N1.5 were randomly assigned in completely randomized design (CRD). Five milliliter of inoculums was transferred in 45 ml of media and incubated at 30oC with shaking at 160 rpm for 6 days. Results illustrated that lipid content was higher when T. asahii was cultured in the medium M12N0.5. This indicated that medium M12N0.5 was suitable for producing single cell oil for use as fat supplement in animal diet

The ethanol production often uses cassava as energy source for their production. The waste product can help improve the quality before reuse as animal feed. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of fermented cassava ethanol byproducts with yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on feed efficiency and milk production of dairy cattle. Twelve Holstein Friesian crossbreds (405.4 ± 43.9 kg BW) with an average milk yield in 10.2 ±1.2 kg/d were used. The treatment were allocated into Randomize completely block design (RCBD) that consisted of four levels of fermented cassava ethanol byproducts with yeast as level as 0, 25, 35 and 45% of DM basis in total mixed ration (TMR) diet based on Ruzi grass as roughages source. The results showed that dry matter...

The objective of this study was to determine effect of using treated sugarcane bagasse as roughage source of TMR on the utilization of nutrients and performance of dairy heifers. Twelve crossbred 98% HF blood heifers (175±20 kg.BW) was assigned to randomized completed block design (RCBD) The treatments were following as different NaOH level of treated sugarcane bagasse 0, 2, 4 and 6% and all of TMR was formulated to similar TDN and CP (65% and 12.5%). The results showed that the heifers fed treated sugarcane bagasse quality with 4% NaOH had better DMI, DMIBW and FCR than others, especially, the highest ADG in 4% (P<0.01). It is therefore can be concluded that the optimal level of NaOH to enhance treated sugarcane bagasse was 4% would improve growth rate...

Dry herbal plants were introduced to be used as animal feed additive in order to replace antibiotic medicines. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of using Indian mulberry as a feed additive on feed intake and milk production in dairy cows. Eight crossbred Holstein Friesian with average 454.75 ± 52.2 kg body weight and 146 ± 41.15 days in milk were used in the study. The experimental design was arranged in 4x4 Replicated Latin square design (21-d period). Animals were fed with total mixed ration (TMR) diet base on rice straw as roughage source. The dietary treatments were supplementation Indian mulberry at level 0, 7.5, 10.0 and 12.5 g/kgDM The results showed that there were no effects on DMI, milk yield and milk composition. Data regarding...

Saccharomyces cerevisiae as animal feed additive has been widely used in order to promote growth and production performances. Consequently, the studies to screening local yeast strains were conducted to compare the respond between S. cerevisiae and Kodameae ohmeri on feed intake, body weight change, milk production and milk composition. Sixteen Holstein Friesian crossbreds, 450 ± 50 kg BW average were used in this study. Animal were allocated into completely randomized design (CRD) to the following 4 treatments: control group, 109 cells/d of S. cerevisiae, 106 and 109 cells/d of K. ohmeri. The results showed that addition of K. ohmeri with 109 cells/d was increased dry matter intake, body weight change and fat production compared to 106 cells/d and control...
